Albeit, unfortunate, I have to agree with Ross. Is there any chance a local FD, Historical Society, Shriners (?), or some other group could help fund/store the truck until it's ready to be finished? Atleast in agreement that they use it in parades and such? I hate to see them get stripped and parted out.
Getting rid of the backend may help get rid of the Truck,
There's a whole lot of "Firetruck" missing from the back, tank, hose beds, ladder racks, etc.
Update...Just got an e-mail from the guy in B.C. He owns a corporation, and informed that he had some troubles with the company double booking a big job, and had to go fix it. He got to my e-mails (finally) and responded asap. I guess I'll found out this week if he's not blowing smoke up my rear. If not, then I'll have $3500 by the middle of the week, and will be able to move forward with my life (for now). Beyond that, I may reinvest $500 of it into another truck that is worth more as parts (another '53 F-600) with a good 254, 2 speed rear, and some excellent body metal.
