After not seeing any improvement in the valves or anthing with running sea foam, I do not know exactly what I need to do.. Something is doing this TSS TSS TSS out the exhaust and I think it is valves not sealing but am not sure now. I have LOTS of blowby also.. What do you guys think I need to do/check?
If it is coming from the exhaust check for black/soot at the head to manifold/header connections or the Y pipe to header connection. Blowby is a natural happening on a engine with 450+ compression and many miles...
As in the exhaust manifold gasket is blown..? I don't think it is that because I can hear it at the end of the exhaust.. and all I have is a straight pipe from the Y that is maybe 5ft long... I can't see any soot though, mostly because my exhaust manifolds are covered with oil up by the manifold.. something is leaking oil all over the engine and I don't know what.. replaced the oil pan gasket twice and replaced the valve cover gaskets and still no change in the big puddles that seem to form under it in a matter of minutes.. I go through about a quart a week/200 miles... I'll look around the Y tomorrow, see if I see any soot around there..
So your saying the noise is audible at the exhaust pipe...... then if this is what you mean ...... that would be possibly an exhaust valve .....
If an intake valve is bad the intake would make a loud woofing noise with the air filter off...... If it is an exhaust valve then a Chuffing noise is heard at the exhaust pipe.....
That is exactly what I mean, but what do I need to do to check the valves? The intake has a slight chuffing sound but not as bad as the big woofing I get out the exhaust,.. I can take the head off but am not sure exactly what I need to do after that..
Just found this https://www.ford-trucks.com/contents...r%207.3L%20IDI
Go to the valve guides part.... Wonder how much it costs to get all that fixed.. I'd like to o-ring the head while I am at it too but don't know how much that will cost either..

After you take the head off check it out yourself real good so you know what is wrong with it before you take it to a machine shop. The cost will vary. I don't know where you are located but I have a great machine shop close to me that does alot of diesel work. Do some checking arund unless you know a shop that is good already. Putting valve guides and seats in a head isn't hard but having the tooling is the hard part but there isn't room for error either.
Don't let them mill the heads unless it is absolutely a must as in warped which if it was bad it should have lost a head gasket in most cases. Don't do it because it will make it look better. When you do this you through the mechanical fuel timing off among other things.
