alternator fire help!!!!!!
I own a 1990 f-150 with a 351ci and the darn alternator plug started on fire. I got the fire out but it melted the plug harness.... what should i do and where do i get a new alternator wire harness????
It's a 2G alternator, it's a somewhat common occurrence for them to catch fire at the plug. A sure way to eliminate the possibility in the future is to upgrade to a 3G. They are available in the correct bolt pattern to fit right where the 2G was mounted. Just a simple fused wire to the battery post plus the regulator wiring. fordfuelinjection.com used to have conversion kits; not sure if they still do or not.
