99 Front Cover Interchangeable?

Is it possible to swap a 99 front cover over to our older engines? I will be swapping HPOP as well.

My front cover and water pump met their ultimate demise when a chain snapped and the engine fell about a foot onto a custom made engine stand. The water pump hit, broke into two pieces and sheared the bolts right off. This also caused a nice sized crack all throughout my front cover. The only front cover I found locally was one for a 99, but I was not sure if it would work. I don't know if it is an early 99 or not, but I can find out if that makes a difference.

Any help is appreciated. This is a pretty devistating setback, especially since these front covers are not that easily found. At least it didn't hit the balancer and bend the crank. Pics will be posted here soon.

I believe they are identical through out the block in all aspects.

Can I just change pick-ups, or will I have to change oil pans as well?
