Question 9 in. chop

OK ranger 86 will install a 9 in. with 302 and C6, will need to shorten housing,I need a little feed back on how to. I have several 31 spline 9 in. units who to trust with the cut and re-spline?

Why not just bolt in an 8.8"? It'll be alot easier and cheaper. The 8.8" will hold up to anything a 302 can throw at it, especially in a Ranger.

WOW I really like that 281 ranger have you finished the frame off lightning apperance mods. I am really anxious to see what that thing will do with some bolt ons and a 300 stall with some cams. Do you have any new info on it or pictures track video. I am currently looking to find an 80 ranger to transplant my 393W, c-6 and 9" W/ 4.56 gears into

I just did not think of buying any thing else,I have the 9in. but if the exspence is to much,I may opt for the 8.8

narrowing a 9 inch will cost you every bit od 1500 you can get an 8.8 with 373 or 4.11s for around 400 bucks

Go to www.car-part.com to search salvage yards nation wide. Use your zip code to sort them by distance. Ranger 8.8s can be had for as little as $100. I bought a '95 8.8 with 3.73s and traction lock for $86 and a '00 8.8 with 4.10s and TL for $265 delivered to my door.

I have an 8.8 in my 300 hp stang and I beat the crap out of it with power shifts and holeshots, the 8.8 is solid as a rock.
