I don't remember where I saved this from....

I had some issues with my 96 w/5speed a while back but due to the cold weather waited to fix it till now. Had code 0344

I had the cps go. replaced that, truck runs. Drive 32 miles and dies.

After doing some more diag, replaced the ipr. Had code 1283. Bad solenoid. Pulled the fuel filter cannister to do it so I changed out the rotted hoses with the blue Ford ones.

Started and drove fine for a couple of days then started getting a check engine light at startup for 60 to 90 seconds. After it went out had full power and drove good. Started cutting out while drivin at any speed. Just a second or so and back to full power. I thought I was going to rip the yoke off the rear end. Hooked up the Genesys while driving to watch the data stream. when it cut out the icp would drop to 2psi. The light comes on and the computer goes into limp mode. Turns out the icp was leaking oil through the body of the icp into the electrical connecter. I guess it was causing an intermittant open like it was unplugged which is why the computer was still letting the truck run in limp mode. Had code 1280.

I only put another 30 miles on it since but no light at start up and no more cutting out.

Any other symptoms? Does it start right back up. Does your SES light stay on? Any smoke or rough running when it starts back up?

No rough running had one long cranking start. I am having a SES issue. I am getting a p1316 IDM code. I replaced the IDM and checked the plugs going into the uvc. It only comes on on really two occasions. 1 engine is cold SES light will come on and off for about 2 min. 2 Cruising just over 40mph and Trans shifts into OD, light will come on and off a couple times. Could this be a pcm?

Did you look UNDER the valve covers?.....

That is usually where the 1316 problem is....

I have already done an IDM so i know thats not my problem, i checked the connection going to the uvc and they are nice and tight. I am going to pull the VC tonight and inspect and maybe replace the UVC. If that does not take care of my problem then am i looking at a pcm?

Most likely just came unclipped..If it is burned , you will need to replace it,, you won't have any trouble deciding what to do ,once the covers are off...

Do the UVCH 's first , then we'll see if you need to go any farther,,,

It is possible that the PCM is bad, but wait & see what happens with the wires......

Someone has a picture. The most common issue is the connector is partially unplugged or loose. You can also check for burned or damaged wires while you're in there.
