Super LOUD after injector pump install??

I've been having trouble with rough running at start up and hard starting so I finally got around to replacing the injector pump. Now the 6.9l starts very easy and has more power. The only thing is that it is 5 times louder and seams to use alot more fuel. Before the install it ran nice and quite now I can't hear myself think. It isn't the exhaust it is coming from under the hood. What do I do???????

Did you have the engine timed after installation of the new IP............sounds like too far advanced.

I did not. I know virtually everything about gas engines but I feel like I am learning for the first time about deisels. I am assuming I need to adjust/rotate the injector pump to time it?

Yes that is how the timing is set.
But first, how was the original IP removed?

Was the IP removed from the timing gear cover or was the cover and gear removed with the IP?

The IP was removed from the timing gear. The timing gear was left untouched.
