How to check wheel alignment?

A rough alignment check is a tape measure. Measure front of front tires as well as back of front tires, this means the distance between both front tires using leading and trailing edges. Theses edges are a minimum of 30 inches apart. SHould be the same. You need to use the same lug or line on the tire to ensure as much accuracy as you can. This works well on true 4WD vehicles where close is good enough. It is only a rough estimate on street vehicles but with some tires (with good lines) can be pretty accurate, mud/rock tires have changing lugs that makes this difficult.
