Ok all, I measured the stroke from the top of the piston (at lowest point in stroke) to the top of the cyl wall. I did this in all 8 cylinders and came up with 3& 3/4in for all cylinders. Is this the correct measurement points or should i re-check it. There is no ridge at all in any cyl. If this is correct could someone have mixed rods & pistons from a 360 & 390?

My 360's pistons were .125 in the hole at TDC. If your engine was this way also, it would be closer to 360. Measure the piston at TDC, then at BDC, and calculate the stroke that way and see what you come up with. Hope this helps.:-)

Thanks for the help guys. I already put the heads on, so I will have to try the "hard wire through the spark plug hole" trick. Hopefully it will cool down soon here,(its been 105-120 durring the day and 90-100 at night) then I can get back to work on it. Again thanks all.
