Hey guys. I just bought my 2002 f250 a couple months ago. I have put a k&n cold air intake on it. 4 inch straight pipe from turbo back. Edge juice with attitude stacked with evolution. What else can i do to make it run faster. And also I was wondering which transmission I should go with. The stock one wont hold up much longer. Because it also has 18" rims and 35x13.50 tires with a 3" liftt.
To make it go faster sell the Edge and get a custom tuned SCT Xcal2 or Xcal3. Then get head studs, injectors, fuel system, bigger turbo or two if you want to go fast. If your tranny is about to lay down on you, look into Suncoast transmissions. I've heard good things about them.
Brians truck shop does a nice job on the 4r100 trannys. You can put a valve body from him in to improve shifts and life, then when yours takes a dump he'll credit you for the Valve body if you buy a tranny from him. A bigger tranny cooler (either aftermarket or a 6.0 cooler) will help your tranny last longer.
Gears will speed it up, most of the further engine mods are gonne require dumping some of your previous mods. If you really want to to run outta money fast, a bigger turbo will will blow more and faster, injectors will make more power, you might need a better high pressure oil pump depending on injectors, a new fuel system to support all that, better intercooler, to make all that stuff run you'll need a better tuner (many people swear by DP-Tuners), by now you should have blown the heads off, so put in head studs. If the bottom end of you engine is still together, you should probably replace the PMR rods with the forged variant. If you do it ALL yourself, you might be able to get out under $10K. If your paying for the engine work I'd expect closer to $15k.
Head over to the 7.3 forum, theres so much infor over there your head will be swimming for a week.
I guess personally I would sell the K&N cold air intake, and get either an AIS, AFE stage 2 intake, or do the 6637 mod. The K&N filters are well known for destroying your turbo wheel. They allow to many larger dust particles in and destroy the turbo blades. Otherwise keep it and replace the turbo often, your choice.
Second ditch the edge tuner, the are well known for destroying the heads on the 7.3L diesels. Go to DP Tuner and get one of their tuners. Also buy a 3 gage pod, for EGT, Boost, tranny temp gauges.
Third head down to the 7.3L forum for more information on how to make your truck faster.
As far as trannies most say BTS, Brian's Truck Stop, it's what I'm going to get when mine goes. His transmissions are well built to take the power/torque, plus his warranty is second to none. If you break sometimes even out of warranty he will fix it.

I removed my K&N filter....I believe too much dust getting thru to the Turbo. I then went with the 6637 mod.....It's a huge filter......Cost $43.00. Quick and easy install. I've run it two weeks now and am quite pleased.
