Found FTE while searching around the net for answers to a fuel gauge problem. I will post a seperate thread on this to see what ideas you guys may have.
Been reading over your shoulders for a couple of weeks now and only wish I had found you folks a long time ago.
My 'New Truck' is a 1987 F250 4X4 XLT Lariat Supercab with the 351 4 BBL HO and C6 Trans. I posted some pictures in My Gallery
It has only 61,000 camper hauling miles and from the condition of the dash and paint, must have spent a good deal of it's life under cover.
While this is my third Supercab, it is my first Lariat. The first 2 (1978 F150 4X4 and 1977 F150 4X2) were rubber floormated 'Customs'.
Now with tilt wheel, A/C and 'wall to wall carpet', I am in hog heaven ...
I ran across a couple of 87's with 4v 351's when I was truck shopping. I saw Rock Auto had a electric Ranger listed under the 03 model year. I never knew Ford made an electric Ranger, I would like to see one.
I did not see any photos of the engine in your Gallery.
I did not know that they had a 351 with a 4 BBL in 1987.
Maybe it is a 460 with a 4 BBL or FI 351?
I will try and get a picture up this evening.
The way I understand this was the last year of the 351 HO 4 BBL, they went EFI in late 87 or 88. The 8th position of the vin is an ‘H’ and I am pretty sure a 460 has an ‘L’.
The emission decal you usually see on the fan shroud has been removed, which has me wondering. If anyone knows a source for this I sure would like to get one.
The left valve cover decal reads manufactured in 1986. Maybe that makes this an ‘early 87’. It also says NON CATALYST.
The truck is an 8800lb F250HD (vin 4th position H). I believe the regular (8500 lb) F250 came with a CAT.
If anyone can shed some light on this, please do …

I take then it is like the 460 with no computer and uses an oil pressure switch to manage the fuel pumps. Then a valve motor on the frame selects the fuel gauges like the 460 does if you have two fuel tanks.
Tried the Ford website like matt12 said and get 'no such page' when clicking on 'email us' link. Then I noticed Matt posted 'how to' on another thread. Gonna quote his instructions here (hope you don't mind Matt):

Thanks again Matt, gonna get this sent quick, before the rush. Bet we swamp their email inbox ...
