Does anyone know what the difference is between the Installer Series and the Pro or XP? Are all of these systems bolt on or weld on? Would welding be better? Thanks
The installer series is an aluminized system; the "Pro" series is a 409 mid-grade stainless, and the 304 is a much higher grade stainless, fully polished system.
All of the systems are bolt-on, but all can be welded likewise if the users prefer.
Matt had it mostly right (he is probably just tired).
Installer series is Aluminized Steel (3 year warranty)
XP Series is T409 Stainless Steel (lifetime warranty)
Pro Series is T304 Stainless Steel (lifetime warranty)
The T409 stainless will develop a light surface rust, but should never rust out. T304 stainless shouldn't rust at all and looks shinier.
Matt can probably verify, but I believe MBRP enforces minimum pricing on thier authorized dealers. So you will most likely pay about the same amount anywhere you get it, unless you get from an unauthorized dealer, and then you won't have any warranty. I believe Matt is an authorized MBRP retailer and has a reputation for great customer service here. I have also dealt with Marty at Truck Toyz Performance, who is an authorized dealer and great to work with (his member name here is Overkill). I personally bought my MBRP 4" Pro series turbo back kit from Diesel Performance Parts Inc, and they were great to deal with as well.
