power problem
lets see where to start my 450 superduty gets 6 miles to the gallon.ive checked real thorough for any diesel leaks.it lacks power serious.ive got to drop to 3rd with an empty truck to make a moderate incline hill.i pulled the codes and none are present.the truck dosent smoke like it was running rich.the filters are new its full of oil.could the breathers on the valve covers be clogged i did notice what i thought was an excessive amount of venting from the oil dipstick i didnt consider it blowby its not blowing oil out the tube.the engine is a ford reman powerstroke with only 60k on it.the turbo has been rebuilt and seems to be working fine.the ebpv has been unplugged and the part of the turbo that had the rod connected to the butterfly valve has been removed and a 1/4 pipe plug seals the rod hole.but the butterfly valve is still intack and moves freely.wheres the best place to start pinpointing the problem

First thing you need to do it wire that Butterfly valve open or remove it. if it can move around it will certainly close on you.
How long since the fuel filter, air filter and oil have been changed? also a good thing to do it clean the FPR screen thru the hole inside the filter housing on the driverside. Also once your done with that check your fuel pressure with a tire gauge and make sure running you have atleast 60 psi or so.

I would pull the fuel filter again and clean the screen. its thru the 1/2 inch hole in the drivers side of the filter housing. many use a q tip with the cotton taken off. It also very easy to remove the two bolts that hold the Fuel pressure regulator on and clean the screen that way. Since you just did the filter that is how I would do it. Then when your done cleaning it go drive it. then measure fuel pressure.

Fuel Pressure Is where I would start I would plum a gauge onto the schrader valve where I could watch it in the cab and Make sure it is not droping below 52PSI under a load at WOT. I had a few that looked good sitting at an Idle or reving it up and the pressure Droped once you put it under load.

does the shrader valve have a pipe thread on the opposite end,if so anyone knows what size nipple? i like the idea of plumbing a guage may even make it a permanent guage.maybe put a tee in the line so i can reinstall the shrader.
i broke the cat and muffler down and they were unobstructed,and i wired the butterfly open.still no power gain so i guess i will try checking the FP tommorrow

Yes It is 1/8 inch NPT I used a oil pressure gauge set up you can get at any parts house, You know the install kit with the white hose.Take the Shrader out put the fitting in then run the white plastic hose to the gauge.( I use a good liquid fild gauge that reads 1-100 PSI but you dont have to) any guage will work If the power is falling off that bad it will drop to 0 PSI.
I hold the gauge in my hand out the window or strap it to the cal I wouldnt want the hose to brake and put diesel in the cab.(Not that it should) but ***** does happen.
