my 2002 had the same trouble. some recommended changing out the rear speed pickup on top of the axle pumpkin. i pulled it and it was full of crid. cleaned and reinstalled, worked 6 months--- pulled again and cleaned, drained differential and put new lube inside--- 2 years, no light.
