Actually for your truck it's a trash code and means nothing. If you want to clear it disconnect the batteries--negative cables first then positives, turn the headlights on for 10 minutes with the cables disconnected, then reconnect in reverse order. It will clear the codes in your memory.
If his truck is running bad and he gets that code couldn't it be a chaffed wiring harness though? I can't remember which year was worse about that happening.
Vloney told me it wasn't even in the (I don't remember the term exactly) code list for that particular year model. I've had it on my 04 also and it was due to a particular tune. It really means nothing for an 03 but he may be having harness issues.
lwfox: Are you having a particular issue with your truck or were you just seeing if it had any codes in it?
This is one of two codes that came up on mine this summer. In fact I just posted about it before I saw this. My truck was experienceing an idle surge and stalling problems. I also got a codee P2285 with this. Dealer tried to tell me I had been running a tuner. this was BS and the truck remains bone stock to this day. I found a diesel shop while I was out of town. The guy there replaced the ICP sensor and all of my problems, including the codes disappeared. Truck runs fine now.
My truck occasionally has a loss of power when first started. Today, when I started it, it ran very rough, then warmed up and ran fine. Has run fine all day. It goes to the shop tomorrow. Only 91,000 miles. Hope they fix it under warranty. Just wanting more than my shops opinion if they start talking me paying.
