Hello folks, i was wondering would a 125shot of NOS hold up on my 390 its a reman and has 13,400miles on it right now. and i was wondering if the NOS plate would work with my stock 4 hole manifold thanks guys.
Not in the long run. It is really hard to say weather or not it would hold up and for how long there a ton of factors to look at. But It might once or twice but if it is a stock style reman then not for long. IMHO
If it is a reman I would say its not a good idea. The rod bolts are probably stock and maybe retorqued at that. If you had a set of ARP bolts and some forged pistons on a mild 390 I would say go for it.
damn straight it will hold up i have done it myself. i bought a 390 off a guy he told me it had forged pistons in it. which i didnt bother to check. never the less i bolted on a full 7al msd ignition system some, headers, aluminum intake, comp cam,750 holley, and a bunch of other goodies i also put on a edelbrock performer 150hp nos kit because of course i thought i had forged pistons turns out i didnt have forged pistons. but i ran the truck for 4 months before it blew up. i didnt have enough fuel pressure for the amount of nos and i blew up some oiler rings. so theirs another good tip for you if you go for it get 2 fuel pumps
I would like for my engine to last longer than 4 months man. Instead of two fuel pumps why not get a High volume pump and run bigger lines from the tank all the way to the carb. You can only put so much pressure to a carb before the floats stick open.
when i say 4 months i mean 4 months of beating the hell out of it. not just going to the grocery store and home in 14.whatever seconds. so you might get up to a year out of it. and dont think for one minute that if you do run nos you wont be wrenching a lot. nos is hard on your motor.and if it is only a reman you will be fixing and replacing things a lot. and the reason for the extra fuel pump is because you need 6lbs at all times when nos is active anything less and you will have problems. it is more of a safety then anything
