I don't have rust any where else on my truck just under the passenger right rear door.
The bottom of my truck looks like the day it rolled off of the assembly line.
Pretty soon I'm going to bead blast the seam on the door and if I can find that rust bullet I will treat it.
Sounds like the counteract works, just not perfectly. I don't know what year your truck is, but my 5 yr old one doesn't have a bottom "like the day it rolled off the assembly line" and I oilspray it.
Sorry guys I have not got back to you, I do not have the internet at home I am at work. The web site is www.Rust Bullet.Com For 1/4 of a pint is $ 8.99. My friends sware by it. I hope this helps Dave
It's ok man. I wasn't doubting the condition of your truck, I was questioning your conclusion that the electronic rust protection you got with your truck didn't work. Something's working. Peace.
Peace.
Well I'm sure it works but after looking at the rust in the seam under the door I think it's water that gets down into the door and sets there and works on the seam. It's sad because this truck has been garaged since day one and it only has 40K on it. I use it only to pull the camper some where and back home and put the truck back. (Drives my wife crazy)
Along with the electronic rust protection I had the corosion spray done inside the doors and all around cost me $750.00 in 2000 when I bought it. It was gauranteed for the life of the vehicle but I'm sure the company that did it has went out of business.Just my luck.
I have a 97, and live in ontario. Underneath the truck, the frame, driveshaft, axles, suspension, etc rusty, but the underside of the bed and cab are perfect, still have the film on them from an undercoating.
Just recently I fixed the bottom of the drivers door. It had rusted out along the seam at the bottom and had started to work its way around the bottom. It had also rotted out around the front access hole/ oiling hole (?) on the bottom of the door, so that got fixed too. All this on the driver's door and the passenger door is spotless.
I don't know if it was the same thing or not, but I had a similar device on a 97 ranger. My day put a pole pruner in the back and scratch the bed pretty good. Some spots were bare metal. After 3-4 months, there was still no rust forming. I got rid of the truck so I can't say any further than that.
I live in southern New Jersey and my truck came from somewhere in New York. Both places are noted for use of salt on the roads, I have a 2000 F150 4X4 and the only rust I can find anywhere is in the bottom seam of the drivers door. It isn't alot or deep pits even, just a rust colored stain on the white paint. Truck also has 147,000 miles so it has been driven in this climate.
I'm not sure what the deal is, but I think I have too much rust. I've sand blasted once and wire wheeled another time to keep my doors and tail gate in good shape. The underside needs the same treatment.
