Crossmember difference

Is there a difference in the crossmember from a diesel or gas crossmember other than the removeable motor mount brackets. Iknow the deisel mounts right to the crossmember and all the gas motors mount on the brackets that go behind the crossmember.

I thought all crossmembers were the same, even for the sixes. I have never heard of anybody having to change frames for a diesel. The 4x4 f150 frame is different from a 4x4 f250 frame though in the front.

i've heard that the diesel truck crossmembers and core supports are toally different from the gas ones. I have no first hand experience with them, but i've heard it more than once.

The only difference in the gas crossmembers on all gas motors is the brackets. Except for if it had a 460 from the factory, the crossmember for the 460 has an indentation for the oil filter anyone planning on swapping should remember that unless you want to put a remote filter on. I just looked at the diesel crossmember it looks identical other then the motor bolts right on to the crossmember.

The diesel crossmember and the 460 crossmember are the same part. Thus, if you try and put the diesel mounts on a gas crossmember that has the oil filter cutout, you will have to build a bracket for the one bolthole that ends up sitting in the middle of the hole.
