Question body lift!?!?!

2002 F-150 Supercrew 4X4 FX4 5.4L. I was wondering if anyone out there would recommend a 3" or 4" body lift and what size tires you couls use with it. was wonderin if this is a good way to go for me because i dont do alot of extreme off roading(mud holes and some trails). i am looking to get some more ground clearance(bigger tires) and a body lift sems a good way to go. just looking for opinions and what tire size i could use.

thanks alot.

I run 265/75-16(about 32") on my stock truck. I would think you could run 35"(i think they are 315s?). My neighbor has a Screw with 35" and he has like a 3-4" lift.

A body lift is a lot of work that may also require some fabrication and relocating a bunch of stuff. I would think about installing spacer blocksat the rear axle and coil spring spacers up front with a drop pitman arm. Might be a little cheaper and easier to install if all you looking for is about 2 inches of lift.

Most of the time the kits come with everything to install it. I wouldn't install a block in the rear because it will increase axle wrap(wheel hop), i know my truck has enough wheel hop already.

yea i saw a kit for 4" body lift. i cant remember the site. but i was wonderint because i have 285/70r17(33x10) goodyears on my truck at stock height so i was thinkin like a 4" body lift would allow almost a 35". and no offense if i ever went with a suspension lift kit, NO BLOCK, only replacement rear springs. i also hear body lifts arent bad to install and you can get a space fill for the gap the shows from the install. cant remember what there called.

body lifts look like crap but make a tranny swap cake. since the 4x4s already have blocks out back I wouldn't add more. Do it right get lift leafs/coils and not worried about it again.

yea i know but savin the money(2200) for the kit i want is though. the kit i was lookin at is a skyjacker full suspension 6" system. which includes rear leaf springs not add-a-leaf. but the cheapest i found it was $2,169. and the reason is because i really dont do alot of wheelin but i do run through some trails and mud on the weekends. because with tires, rims, and lift(with alignment im lookin at a good amount here). im not really hardcore, but the weekend warrior. its also a daily driver.

i agree. Ive had a body lift lift on every truck ive owned and so have all my buddies. No one has EVER had a problem. And i beat the living hell out of my trucks. The hardest things on these trucks is doing that cab because you gotta pull up the carpet to get to the bolts and pull out the back seat. But honestly i did the entire cab of my truck by myself in about 4-5 hours. The performance accessories is the best body lift by far and I wouldnt buy anything else. They explain everything step by step and you will have everything you need. And by the way I have a 3 inch body lift a 2 inch Add-a-leaf and my torsion bars cranked and i fit 35's prefect. I could actually fit bigger if i wanted to but they would rub a little too much for my liking.

I hate body lifts...so I won't go there.

Just crank up your torsion bars and get it aligned. That's FREE lift right there, and it will clear 35's. I can fit 34's on my truck and I havent even touched the torsion bars...
