How do I find out if it's has a turbo for that year?

Hi, I am looking into getting a 1994 F350 diesel. The vin says its diesel but doesn't tell me if its the turbo model. I found online that only 93 and older had the non turbo motors but its not a reliable source so I need to know?

The VIN check says 7.3L, shouldn't it say IDI-Turbo if it was turbo?

Whats the differences between the turbo and non turbo?

how is that non-turbo motor then? Complete worthlessness compared to the turbo? Looking to mod also.

IDI guys will disagree but I think the IDI motor-turbo or non turbo are a waste if you want to mod at all. PSD are a more modern elctronically controlled diesel. they are easier to mod and easier to fix in my opinion. Plus compared to the IDI they are fast stock.

Well I'm only able to get a 93 or 94 diesel cause of the price. In the future I'd like to get like 99-03 and mod that but for now all I can afford is the 93-94 models I've looked at.

what is your price range? there are plenty of 95-97's that may fall in there. let us know what you are looking for and maybe we can find one for you.

Well theres a 93 and 94 both need a little work here and there but are only for 4k. The tlc they need is all stuff I can do. I am looking at something to help start my masonry/landscaping business with. The 93 is a dump, and the 94 is a pickup.

I really can't find any powerstrokes 94-99 that are cheap enough unless they are totaled or engine is junked.

yeah your right, in that range they are few and far between. If you have any more questions let us know. I will keep my eye open for a runner in that range for you though.

for what you are doing and if I had to choose between the two, assuming similar mechanical condition I would take the dump bed, you are not gonna see any engine performance difference.

i bought my '95 psd for $3000. you can find 'em, but like Tim said... they are hard to find. i had to do some stuff to this one to get it all good to go as well. i now have around $5000 in the truck, that includes my mods, all 3 exhaust systems, and buying the truck also.
