2 different heads,do they match?

I got a 390 with a 61 c1ea 390 head on the drivers side,
and a 72 d2ea truck head on the passenger side. The c1ea has
a bigger exhuast manifold, the d2ea has a slimmer one. Is
this bad for performance?or the motor? are the ports
and valves some where around the same size?compression difference?
I got some gt heads from another 390 in the basement that
I could put on if the other setup is no good. I noticed
the difference while changeing the exhuast manifold gasket.
input is appreciated.as always

Well, no, they don't exactly match. Is it such a bad problem that you need to swap one off, no. The C1 head will have intake ports with a lower floor, but if you are using the factory iron intake manifold, it will seal fine. The C1 head also has higher exit exhaust port (1/4 inch), but most cast iron exhaust manifolds fit either. The C1 has a D shaped combustion chamber, like almost all of the early heads. The D2TE-AA heads have a higher intake floor, 1/4 inch lower exhaust exits, and a kinda kidney bean chamber shape. Valve size is close or the same on the intakes, and the same on the exhausts. So, no, they don't match. But if everything is sealed up and the truck runs okay, there is no reason to worry. DF
