i have a 65 f100 with a 352 in it and have been haveing problem one after another replaced the battery, starter, and starter seliniod. but still will not start with out a jump. once started it will run but the problem that is confusing me is if i unhook the battery the truck dies.
Thanks, will give that a try. I have never had a truck just die from unhooking the battery. but if the alt is not charging and the bat is dead why will the truck still continue to run.
It doesn't take much to run the ignition. Try to get out of the habit of pulling the battery cable off with the engine running. You are getting by with it because you have an older truck, but put a electronic ignition on it, or a fance stereo, and you run the danger of blowing them up by doing this. Needless to say what you can blow up on a newer vehicle with all the computer stuff on it.
Checked all wiring and is good, did find that one of the posts on the back of the alt was touching the block so rotated the case and now is good but still haveing the same problems. I am wondering if i got a wire mixed up when putting it back on I have the following posts on the back of the alt can you tell me where they go. BAT = bat side of the selinoid i got that but where does the
