ag30265- I was going to have the 460 mildly rebuilt (.30 - .40 over, rv cam, heads cleaned up) and drop it into a 78-79 Bronco.
I have been trying to find a decent 78-79 Bronco, but haven't been able to find what I'm looking for.
I did find a nice 78 F-150 4x4, C6, NP205, longbed, that I am going to look at Sat. If that works out, then I will put off the rebuild until later.
I used to live in Norcross so I have heard about Kasse.
Didn't he just win the 06 or 07 engine builders challenge?
I wish my pockets were deep enough for him to build me an engine.
Yeah he won the 06 competition....I too wish mine were deep enough.
GL on the 150. I recently purchased a 77 in very good condition and I love it. I've had a 78 for several years but it has been in pieces in the shop for most of that time. I work on it here and there when time permits and I'm still in the body work stage. I'm hoping for a 6bt convert by the time I finish it............................if I ever do!!!
The 77 runs and I've been using it as a daily driver for the past month and I love the way it feels and drives. The wife thinks I'm crazy but I feel like I bought a new truck. I'm ranting on about my new toy but what I'm saying is I was looking for a 77-79 bronco when I found the 150 and I'm not dissapointed in the purchase. I still want a bronco but it can wait for a little while longer. Ole 4b's gotta collection goin on down there in the swamp i'm a little jealous of.
Good luck on your 78 ag. Like all projects, it's a matter of time and money.
Like you I have had a hard time finding a nice Bronco. While looking for a Bronco I came across a nice 78 F-150. I'm going to look at it Sat. and if it checks out, I think I'll buy it.
I hunt down south not to far from where 3bronco lives. We might have to pay him a visit and see if he is willing to sell at least one.
Its a little ways to travel but Larry Smith in Rome is one of the best and he is reasonable. He can build it anyway you want. He does a lot of dirt track motors. He did all the machine work on my 460.
Thanks for the help bhardy. I'll keep him in mind for the future.
If I end up getting the 78 F-150 this weekend, I'll put off the rebuild until later.
Nice looking 78 you have.

Thanks, I have sold the engine and tranny. The rest is for sale. If you are doing a 78 build up I might have some stuff you need. Check out my listing in the for sell section of this forum.
Thanks bhardy, if I need any parts off your 78 I'll let you know.
The 78 F-150 4x4 that I'm looking at is in good condition. The only rust it has is in the bed and inside bottom of doors. The seller is including two good doors with the truck. If you still have your 78 in the future, I could probably find something I could use.
Good luck to you and your wife with the Deli.
If I'm ever in Rome, I'll stop in and see you.
Old87,
I'll let you know how everything goes with the 78 this weekend.
It has a 400 with a Edelbrock intake, Holley carb, owner said it ran strong.
It will be my hunting rig so the 400 will work for now. I plan on dropping in a built 460 in the future. I just wish my funds could keep up with my plans.
if you dont mind the ride there is a shop about 30 miles south of agusta owners last name is madison builds some kickass engines gonna get him to redo my l6 for my f150
