What chassis is it built on? I'm thinking of buying one from a friend of mine and i was wondering what other cars it shared parts with. oh and what are problem areas for rust on these cars? I've only seen it twice at night and he says it has some rust but wanna know if there is specific spots to look
'69s are good looking years. If it's a 2-door, it's worth some money to someone wanting to dress it up as an XL. It's body-on-frame. It's the same car as a Galaxie 500 or Custom 500 - they share everything; the only difference is trim level and options. As for rust, look at the floor pans, trunk pan, rear quarters, rear bumper, and on top of the trunk right below the rear window.
I had one of them! 390/c6/273's --Loved the car. Found an excuse to put in a "70" 429 CJ made into a 460 CJ with a c6. They weigh ~4000# though. You know what I would say LOL
I have a 70 Galaxie 500 with a 351w, FMX, and 2.73 rear end, and it is a fun car. It weighs 4300lbs (same as my F250), but it has enough power to get up and scoot, and the gearing gives it around 25mpg on the highway.
Not to mention the incredible ride from a full size luxury car. Just do yourself a favor, and get front and rear swaybars if they are gone. Mine doesn't have them, and wallows in the twisties. I can get the tires to howl doing the speed limit on my road around some of the unmarked corners.
This one only has a 302 in it, But it is a 2 door! I'm going to look at it this weekend. I'll probably come home with it. Lost cars tend to follow me home sometimes. If i do buy it i'll post a picture or 2 of it
I would love to have a '69 2-door. I'm going to try and pick one up sometime in the future. Post some pics if you get the chance. They are sweet looking cars, especially if they have hide-away headlights.
