98 expe idle

Talking 98 expe idle

i just replaced plugs and wires after showing a 304-307 code and now it has plenty of power no missing runs great above 800 rpm but when it idles it at 500 rpm it wants to die out any suggestions thanks

Try cleaning the idle-air-control valve with some sensor safe throttle body / carb cleaner. 500 seems to be bit low

Check all your vacuum lines. If the IAC is bad or clogged, my experience is that it won't idle at all. Did you disconnect any to access the plugs? I just had one that didn't look bad but turned out to be, see my thread from a couple weeks ago.

i had to take alot of stuff off including vac lines and thought i put all back and tried not to bend anything but maybe i did is there a better way of checking with out useing eather thanks

Ether? you mean starting fluid? never used it to check for vacuum leaks. check all your hoses and their connections. there's one behind the vapor management valve on the driver side firewall that's easy to miss. are they OEM? consider replacing any that are suspect, they can look fine but still be bad.

be careful with that ether!
