Alternator issue???

Whats up fella's!?

I found a similar thread but i have the exact opposite problem which was described. My battery indicator comes on about 10-15 seconds after i start my truck (99 4.6 5-speed)...all of my lights dim on the instrument cluster as well as my headlights... But, it goes away after i pass 2500 RPM. As long as i am revving it high enough, i dont have a problem! Considering gas prices are where they are (especially in Michigan), i would love to know what i need to fix to solve this problem! The twist is, the Alternator only has about 15000 miles on it and the belt has less than 5000 (had to replace two pulleys along with it!) So what do ya think! Thanks in advance!!

I'd check the battery connections and test the alternator as well as the battery.

Alright...Battery connections are clean and tight. I just started the truck and disconnected the positive terminal to see if the truck would remain running and it just died! This alternator is only 3 months old... i think i am in denial that this could be happening right now!!

dont ever pull the battery cable off a vehicle that has a computer control. one voltage spike and you can blow the crap out of a whole bunch of stuff. you might be lucky the alternator is toast and it died instead of spiking up to 20 volt output!
it does sound like the alternator has a problem. i would take to AUTO ZONE and have it tested. make sure you have good ground straps from teh motor to the frame, and good battery ground strap.
