Cool 02 rust issue 7.3

I have a 02 7.3 crewcab. I had the rear fender wells repaired under the warranty 5 yr 100k rust through in May 06. Now 11 mos after the warrenty repair it is popping through on both sides and rusting bubbles all over again. I returned it to the body shop that did the work and he told me it has a cronic problem and they only way to fix it right is to replace the panels on both rear sides. (approx $2600.00) Somehow the water is getting between the 2 pieces of metal and just sits in there an rusts. So he said take it back to the dealer and see what they say. Of course the dealer says only the FORD rep can make a decision since it is out of the 12 month warranty for the repair. It was only out by 6 weeks when i took it to them. I feel im going to get a NO for any help with this problem. Any ideas out there dealing with something like this.... thanks. Jeff

I would think you would have a good case, since they can not argue that rust happens overnight.

Just because it was only discovered after the expiration, does not mitigate the fact that rust is a process, not an event, and obviously, it was rusting out before the warranty expired.

What is the sale date of your truck? I always thought the rust warranty was 5 years/unlimited miles.

Out of curiosity, were does it say your truck was manufactured? (on the door or pillar) Mine said made in mexico, and my crossmembers were rotted through, mines an 02 sb aswell. I ended up replacing my crossmembers, as a short bed is almost impossible to find for these trucks. What I would ask the dealer is how long the body work is warrented?
