ive got a 94 superduty f450 powerstroke and zf tranny,i also have a 94 f250 4x4 with zf tranny and i belive it has a dana 60 up front not sure though.the engine is blown in the f250.i would like to take all the 4x4 components and make my 450 a 4x4.since the 450 already has leafs on the front the axle should be an easy install. i am also thinking since they both have the zf the transfer case and driveshaft swap shouldnt be real difficult either.what you all think? im sure i havent thought about everything its going to take to get er done
F250's do not have a 60 up front unless it was swapped in. if the axle is split in 2 sections it is a TTB Dana 50. if its a monobeam with 4" locking hubs its a 60. also the rear is a Dana 80 not a sterling (or should be, look for disc brakes) so the pinion length is going to be different. otherwise the ZF's are the same so i would rebuild the 4x4 version (since its already out) and then just swap it with the one in your 450.
You may be in luck. The 4x4 F-250 and the F-superduty should share the same tranny. It should be a simple matter of unbolting that big drum brake deal off the end of the 450's output shaft and bolting on the transfer case. Unless both trucks are the same wheelbase both driveshafts will have to be altered.
i have the shortwheel base cab and chassis f450,.i own a welding buissness so fabricating and balancing the driveshafts is no problem i am wondering now if the trucks share the same chassis for the sake of bolting up the front dana?
IF i RECAll the f450 is a 10 bolt pattern compared to the 250, 350 8 bolt pattern for the rims. At least thats what it was on the "f super duty" we had in the shop
You are correct...The F-SD's are 10 lug....but I think the frame is the same, so it should just be a matter of swapping the TTB into the 450. The two different lug patterns shouldn't be much of an issure since you have to break down the tires to rotate 6 of them properly anyways.
