I am not able to switch fuel tanks using my switch under the radio. Does anyone know if those switches often go bad or do I simply have a ground issue or skeeved wire some where?
Hey there cbowman. This topic has been covered exhaustively in this forum and the fuel forum. Do some searches and you'll find everything you need including some nice wiring diagrams.
The only real answer is that it could be any one of the things you mention, and a few other things like mainly the fuel sending units, which probably broke in just about every 80-86 Ford truck (judging by the posts on FTE). In my experience, if it's not the sending units, I would check the valve next. It's ground to the frame by the bolts hoding it on and will not work if not fully ground. I just took mine off and the amount of rust was incredible.
