Drivers door

I just picked up a 62 F100 unibody. My question is, my drivers door has no place for the outside lock mechinism. I looked inside the door and I don't see a spot for one. Is it suposed to be like this? The guy I got it from gave me a new lock and key set and it has one for the ignition and one for each door. Any info would be apreciated.

The funny thing is that it has one on the passenger side.

Imagine that, Actually living in a time when you didn't have to have an alarm and lock set, and folk left your stuff alone.
