trailer wiring harness

I have a 01 F250 that has a factory seven pole connector under the bumper. I have installed a gooseneck hitch in the bed and want to install a six pole connector in the bed. Is there an adaptor, like maybe some type of "T" adaptor that I can get that will allow me to connect the six pole connector in at the factory wiring harness? I don't really want to splice into the factory harness. If anyone knows where one is available if its made, I would appreciate it. I would really like a six pole that is already wired with the connector. I have looked on the etrailer website and haven't found one if its available. Thanks.

I believe that most gooseneck trailers have a cable that plugs into the standard bumper mounted receptacle.

Maybe they do. The trailers I have access to all have a round six pole connector. My truck has a round seven pole, little bigger than the six. I know there is an adaptor having the male end of the seven pole and the female six pole connector. I don't want that. I want to mount a six pole in the bed of the truck. I just wanted to know if there is a connector as I described above.

GaDawg, I have a 7 pole connector in my bed for towing goosenecks and hooking my camper up to. What I did, to avoid cutting and splicing in the middle of the harness, is run a seven conductor cable to the plug at the rear of the truck and double up the wires under the screws. I understand the desire for a six pole, and you could easily just tape off the extra wire, but I would put in the seven pole rv type connector and get the adapters, so you have the ability to tow just about anything.

I didn't want to splice wires, so I got a 7' 7 wire extension with the male and female ends already put together (approx $30 at a RV supply). I took the male end off, threaded it thru a factory hole in the left rear stake pocket, down and out the bottom of the stake pocket. Replaced the male end, mounted the female end via universal bracket under the the left bed rail just aft of the center stake pocket.

When I tow the 5th wheel, I plug the trailer in to the bed mounted receptacle and plug the male end into the factory receptacle below the rear bumper. When not in use, the male end of the extension rides in a rubber boot mounted behind the factory receptacle.

I your case just put a 6 prong female end on the extension in your bed.

Here you go, direct from etrailer $54.95 but it will go to 7-pin since that is what you have from the factory, a 7-6pin adapter ($14.95) could then be used.
