I just found a 427 FE motor out of a houseboat on ebay that looks just like my 360. I am planning an engine swap or upgrade and wondered if it would bolt up to my c6 in my 73 ford f-100. the exhaust bolt pattern is the same as mine. Would there be negative considerations? Any thoughts?
Well, I've thrown in my bid on both motors. I have not even met the reserve. I guess he knows what he's got. I suspect they will both go for over $3000. Whaddaya think?
I have got to get off the internet.... What do you think, 11s maybe better with this, a locker, drag tires and a decent driver :-) It must be 700-800 HP with the NOS. Do you guys think the rest of this motor is up for that kind of power?
Pretty cool, especially for the price. $3500 (the "buy it now" price) seems really cheap for that motor, assuming that it is really everything that he claims. I don't have a use for it, but boy if I did....
Then again, I'm still saving my money for one of the aluminum Genesis 427 blocks. I've got it built in Desktop Dyno, and it's putting out a virtual 675 hp on pump gas (9.5:1 CR). My virtual Cobra kit car kicks some virtual butt! Now if only the $40 grand I need to build wasn't also "virtual"....
He doesn't mention what rods he has. I don't know if I would be using stock 390 rods on that much motor. Nevertheless it is well worth $3500. If that was on ebay a couple years ago when I was planning my build I would have bought it and threw a smaller cam in it and saved a few bucks.
