lugnut studs

had a couple lugnut studs break off..to replace em do i just knock out the old ones and replace them??will a big hammer work??

yep..that's all ya do is beat the out with a BFH. (Big F'n Hammer)

It is far better to have them pressed out and in by a machine shop if you do not own a press yourself. A small 10 ton press from Northern Tools will do.

That sure sounds like a lot of work and expense especially when ya got a big ole hammer laying around and have done it this way many many times over the years and on the trails.

Front or rear axle? You'll have to pull the rotor of course for the front, depending on how long they are you may have to pull the axle shaft for the rear. A hammer will work fine. 99.999% of mechanics will use a hammer if you take it to garage. A press works nice if you have one.

The rear will come out without removing the axle shaft..but you will have to take the brake stuff off to make it easier to get at.

They should come off the rear without pulling the axle, I've seen a few that had longer studs on them that could be questionable, probably thanks to a hasty mechanic or something along those lines.
