I need to install a 289 ('66 engine) hooked to an AOD ('93 tranny), from what I've read I need to use the 28ounce flexplate...is there a 28ounce flexplate that comes in the 154? AND 163? tooth versions so I can run a starter from a 5.0?
See, I have a 5.0/AOD from a '93 Cougar, but have to run the 289 for a bit before I switch in the 5.0...so I'm trying to buy as few parts as possible just to get this truck moving under it's own power with the 289.
Here's one that will work. http://store.summitracing.com/partde...2&autoview=sku
Basically you need a flexplate for an AOD or C-4 tranny with 164 teeth and 28 oz balance.
If you want to do some junkyard shopping-
You can find an pre 1981 302 or 351w flexplate for a c4 it will work. You can also look for a 351w flexplate with an AOD.
