Tow mirrors

This question has been bothering me everytime I look at my truck. I have an 04 F250 Lariat. Why doesn't it have the turn signals on the towing mirrors? Was this an option or is it suppose to be standard? I see XLT's that have them. The only thing I can think of is maybe the mirrors were put on to replace standard mirrors. Is there anyway to check this. My truck has the trans. temp gauge. Is that standard or does it come as part of a towing package with the tow mirrors?

That would be the only reason your truck does not have the tow signal mirrors. It more than likely came with the paddle style mirrors, and the previous owner changed them. If they are aftermarkets, they will vibrate a lot. You can pull a mirror off and see if it bears the ford logo.

Trans temp is standard.

they're an option across the board. They do offer non-heated, non-lighted towing mirrors. I'm assuming that's what you have.

I have an 2002 F-250 and I have the factory tow mirrors on my truck now. I have wanted to upgrade to the lighted LED mirrors for some time now but I am kind of hesitant because of the prices of factory ones and the installation of the new wiring (for the heated part). Any suggestions?

Mine have the heated logo on the mirror. not sure if it's hooked up though. The power part works. You would think it would be standard on a lariat but that's what I get for thinking. I will most likely add an LED mounted on the bottom of the mirror. Can someone post a link for a how to or wiring diagram for the turn signals and running lights under the dash?

Since the lighted portion of the mirror was an option, I'm wondering if the wiring isn't already in place. Perhaps you can just get a mirror backing with the LED's and just replace that section of the mirror assembly. Certainly more expensive than to just put an LED on, but might be a little easier in the long run.

I'm kinda thinking out aloud here. Hopefully someone with some experience with this will chime in to give you some better guidance.

I'm not positive but I am pretty sure that only 2003 and up could have the wiring available but in 2002 those mirrors weren't even an option.

Ya know, I didn't even realize that it was someone else asking about it. I was just assuming it was the OP's '04.

Whoops

Correct ... no lighted mirrors in 2002. However, there is a nice how-to thread somewhere in this forum by a guy who installed lighted trailer tow mirrors on his 2002, and he states what wires he used under the dash.
