Anyone who has ordered a Dell Computer knows how easy it is to have exactly what you want built. Dell emails you as soon as they take your order, they email you again when they are setting up to build the computer, they email you again as they are building it and give you a progress report, they email you once it is built, they email you when they are about to ship it, etc. I wish Ford would do something similar when I order a truck from them. It would be great to know what is going on while waiting those Looooong 8 weeks or so. I asked the dealer and he said that he would call me with a VIN once Ford gives it to him but that's about it until the truck arrives at the dealer. Bummer.
If I ever do buy new (99% chance I NEVER will), I will have to order it.
I called a large Ford dealership here in town asking about a '07 F350 4x4, Reg cab long bed, 6-speed V10 with 4.30 gears. There wasn't one on the entire East coast....
But with all these new emissions, data recorders, computers, and sensors they are putting in new vehicles...I will never own anything newer than OBD-I
