352 to replace 240?

The 240 cid 6 in my '66 F250 4X4 is getting tired; can hear piston slap (or rod bearings). How much of an effort would it be to swap in a '66 F250 4x2's 352 V8 (from a parts truck)? Both have 4-spds.

Others smarter than I will hopefully reply, but...
Engine, trans, driveshaft, motor mount perches, radiator, throttle cable...that's pretty much the bulk of it.

Bill, Both engines share the same perches, the tranny bells are different so separate the tranny from the bell, and the radiator is different. Gas lines from the tank are very different but may have a common union along the chassis rail.

The FE can use a much lower rear gear ratio, so don't forget to look there.

You should be able to make the swap in a weekend, if you have the tools and place to work. IMHO

Thanks, John.
Probably easier to make the swap than to rebuild the 240.
