i have a 96 f350 with a 351w and an E4OD i want to take this engine and put it in a 94 f250 4x4 with a ZF 5 speed. my question is,may i reuse the flywheel from the E4OD or do i need to buy one for a standard? how many teeth are on a standard flywheel versus one from the automatic?
Not sure about the teeth but you cannot use a flexplate from an auto on a standard transmission. On the auto, the torque converter bolts to the flexplate and on the standard, the flywheel is thicker and has a machined surface for the clutch disc to contact on and the pressure plate bolts to the flywheel. 2 completely different set-ups.
If the 250 with the ZF 5spd is a 351W, then you can just swap all the parts to the replacement engine.

When you remove the egines and tranny from the F-250 unbolt the flywheel and have it checked and resurfaced, and if you can afford to put a new clutch in do it, but at the very least have the flywheel resurfaced and checked. I've seen a lot of people do tranny/engine swaps and they end up chewing their clutch to shreads because they don't think its necessary to get the flywheel resurfaced. Besides if the flywheel is bad, a new one is only about 100$ + machining ($20).
