I have a 96 Ranger 2.3L (2WD) with 157,000 miles. I bought an aftermarket tachometer a year ago, but never figured out where to connect the wires. This is a distributor-less I-4 engine with 8 spark plugs. Can anyone tell me how to connect the wires or if it is even possible? Thanks

Why are you even asking this, the tachometer manufacturer should have application specific instructions for your vehicle, complete with the guides for what color wire you need to connect to and where it should be located. If you read the manual that came with your tach, it should tell you where you can find this information.
I'm not trying to burst your bubble here, but that is what all that paper known as a manual is there for. Just get the wiring guide from the website. I know Autolite, Sunpro, B&M, Summit, and others all have websites where this information is to be found.
