On a carb with a cable instead of the arm that you have.
this is how it's adjusted.
THROTTLE KICKDOWN LINKAGE ADJUSTMENT
1. Move the carburetor throttle linkage to the wide open position.
2.Insert a 0.060 inch; thick spacer between the throttle lever and the kickdown adjusting screw.
3. Rotate the transmission kickdown lever until the lever engages the transmission internal stop. Do not use the kickdown rod to turn the transmission lever.
4.Turn the adjusting screw until it contacts the 0.060 inch; spacer.
5.Remove the spacer.
I held it WOT and the kickdown rod could move toward the firewall another inch or so. I screwed the screw in until the play was out minus 1/16". That put the screw almost totally screwed in.
just get it to where you can eyeball it and it looks good, then take it for a spin and see how it feels and if need be then adjust it a little more. sometimes with these old trucks thats the best method. thats what i did and my kickdown linkage works like a swiss watch
