...engine question from someone who knows nothing?
I originally had that cam when I was still planning on installing the Ed heads. The folks here talked me out of it. But I sure liked the Dyno numbers Ed got with that package.

It is a very wild cam with questionable streetability. Forget about vaccum brakes and accessories. With your 428 it might be a little more bearable vs the 390. It wouldn't bother me but not much does as far as that goes.

Gtex. I will have to disagree with you about struggling to put a 390 in the 12's. I think I could build one that will go in the 12's on pump gas. I use to have one I think would run 12.9's. I think the engine was fairly streetable also. It had a little lumpy idle but other than that it ran pretty smooth. The biggest key to getting in the 12's is to put all you power to the ground and having the right gearing. I know how to make a truck hook up.

hey rat was this B.S. Campbell from the FORDFE forum?? Just curious. I haven't heard much from him in a while just wondering where he went.

I guess you could get an old Ford truck into the 12s with a 390 . But then, not much would be left of the "Old Ford truck". Know what I mean? Weight savings, suspension mods and a high RPM motor would not be much of a truck. As said before, I'd love to see or hear of it.
Has anybody on this forum actually run or seen a 67-72 with 390 run in the 12's? Let's face it, you guys have some well built 390s, and you are a good way from 12's?
Not always the skeptic, quite often the optimist, but I'm also an engineer.

For you guys who are interested in drag racing, the Blue Thunder intake is supposedly worth another 20 hp above the Edel RPM.....and it is still a dual plane. They look alot like a 428 P.I. but are a shade taller. If you are running the smaller intake port heads ( C7AE-A, C8AE-H, or D2TE-AAs )you'll want the 427MR edition. DF

I will reach 12's one day and it won't be from cutting weight. I wish I could tell you all how I did with my new tires last night but it rained. I am using econodrags old setup and I think it will put me well into the 13's. I don't think I will hit 12's with this cam though. I don't have quite enough on the big end. With 4.56 gears and a bigger solid cam I am sure I could hit the 12's. Don't think I don't like my cam though. It gives a lot of power for the amount of street friendliness.

Sean be sure and take a 13/16 thin wall socket with you to the track to change the tires out. I used a spark plug socket and a breaker bar. I just wanted to let you know this just in case you have'nt noticed how the lug nuts set in the wheels.
...engine question from someone who knows nothing?
Already figured this one out. I put them on at the lube rack to see how they would fit. They fit great. I did have a problem finding a socket that thin though but other than that no problems. I was still able to spin them fairly easily but they weren't heated up. I am sure they will grip hard on the track after I get them sticky. How many runs do you think they will go?
...engine question from someone who knows nothing?
they should have 20-30 passes left. It all depends on how much of a burn out you do. Glad they worked good. Maybe you will get to the track before you have to leave and see a diffrence. Let me know how well it goes. Tony
