IH vs. FORD HPOP?

Ford's HPOP p/n F18Z 9A543 CRM cross references to International's HPOP p/n 2589446c91. Although International says theirs is for 94.5 and up 7.3's. So this leads me to believe that International puts the 17* pump in all aplications. IH's pump is for engine S/N 843990 and up. Where is our S/N located at? I am looking for opinions and possibly some confirmation of this.

If this is true I am buying one from IH. It is cheaper than e-bay. I can get one for $353.47. The only catch is the core charge is $450.00. So you better have a core or shop somewhere else. I am willing to help some of us out with this if anybody wants one. Although I will need your core before I send yours to you. I will not make any money on this either just trying to help out those who have helped me.

Hey Neal I think the serial number will be on the passenger's side valve cover sticker.

The engine serial no is near the oil filter stamped on a boss. You need light and something to clean off the crud. TJ has a pict in his gallery IIRC.

Maybe they want the HPOP ser#??

My bad then- Someone told me that a long time ago but the sticker is missing on my cover. I have been wondering about that for a long time now. Now I know too.

I thought the serial should be stamped. If on the VC then you could change the #'s easy. Thanx anyway bodabdan.

Cuda, I am pretty sure he said the engine S/N. I will check mine and get back. Thanx.

i can tell you this i am a mid 97 and my serial # is in the 500,000's somewhere.

the other place is by the oil filter. i got the picture of it. you need a cordless and a wire wheel.
there is a whole bunch of #'s on it but i highlited in yellow a while back for rubberduck i think.

this is the other of the two spots. its the lower of the two stickers.
probably safe to say if its for a 800,000+ motor is a 17* swash plate pump.

Mine has no sticker there. I guess it is time to clean the stamped location. Oh well. I was just curious what our #'s were and it seems they are definately lower than the SD's at 843990 and up. So that pretty much confirms the IH is a 17* pump.

I guess nobody is interested in the IH version I can get. I understand because I would need your core first and that would delay delivery quite a while. Oh well the offer still stands.
