FRONT sway bar lateral motion...NORMAL?
As many know...I tow a 34' hitch to bumper 9000# loaded TT. I've experimented with some fixes for the weak rear springs and have tried air bags, a home made clamp and settled on the RoadMaster Active Suspension for my Ex...and have been extremely pleased with it. I aslo added a Hellwig rear-sway bar sometime ago.
I still feel a little "crab" or "yaw" feeling if I hit a sharper curve a little too fast while towing and the FRONT reacts to 1100#'s of tongue weight PUSHING on the REAR of the Ex...I am FULLY convinced this is a FRONT end phenomenon that I am feeling. So last night I crawled up under the Ex to look around.
When looking over the FRONT sway bar bushing area...I can see obvious rub areas in the lateral or side to side position on the bushing area that connects to the axle. About 3/4" on either side of the bushing which indicates a side to side sliding of the bar in the bushing...is this normal?
I just called my stealership and have made an appointment for Monday to have him check it out as my warranty is still in effect for another month or so...why not have him take a gander...but I figured I'd ask here if others have seen this type of "rub" marks on their Ex's.
Granted 1100#'s PUSHING on the REAR of the Ex has to be countered somewhere...control has not been an issue...sensation / feeling is more what I would like to stiffen up.
Just gathering info before I go to the dealer...
Thanks!
joe.
Not sure it is necessarily lateral movement of the entire bar but more of a product of twisting. Make sense?
Wanted to see of others front ends showed the same "marks"...
Thanks for the reply Monsta...How's the weather there today?...let me guess...82! LOL
