Alright, I will do my best to explain the problem/issue, but I am not too clear on exactly what the problem is...
At any rate, I have a 1973 F250 Crew Cab with a 6.4 liter 390. It has a C6 auto tranny and I suspect the problem may be there...
The Problem:
It is very inconsistent, but it seems that when I accelerate with zest/floor it and pull higher revs, I get a sucking/roaring/beast like sound from my truck. I can hear and feel it, but it is difficult to place it exactly...If I had to guess, I would say it is eminating from the left of the transmission, but I could be mistaken.
Given those details, do any of you know what the problem may be?
BTW, if this is in the wrong section, I appologize. I simply don't know WHERE the problem is, and that makes it difficult to choose the proper forum.
You are okay posting here but I think you may want to give a better desciption of the sound. For all I can tell you could have anything from a vacumm leak to an exhaust leak to a whining tranny.
This is TheImpaler...I am on my father's, (jor), computer/account. At any rate, I guess the best way to describe the sound would be as air passing over a bladder. Another thing to note: I can control it, to a degree, by moving the gas pedal and can completely stop it by letting off of the gas completely..Hence my assumption of a vacuum leak.

Actually, I think the problem is your zesty acceleration. Sorry, couldn't resist. I've just never heard of anyone describe a problem quite like that before. Does it make the noise only under load? Can you bring the rpms up while its parked and hear the noise? It would be good to zestily floor it while parked and have somebody else outside the cab try and track down the noise. Good luck. Oh, and your handle....a Vladd refrence?

Yep, a Vlad reference, indeed. : ) ...Got a wooden stick?
As for the sound, it is very inconsistent...I am going to go out and try and get it, but we'll see. As for my cague description...My appologies. I just don't really know how to describe it....well, in terms that would make sense to anyone but myself. : )
....A small bodied, large headed beast under my hood sucking in air?
...Like I said,
Anyway, off I go, and I will try it from a stand-still as well.
