CDR blowby

I pulled the CDR hose off the air cleaner while the truck was idling and there was quite a bit of smoke coming out? Is this normal?

I thought the valve was supposed to be shut until higher RPM's. I get white/blue smoke at idle and blackish smoke on acceleration (that could be the DPS turbo calibrated pump and timing). It's a new CDR and I just cleaned it twice in the last 3 weeks. The second time there was a bunch of oil in it again. Checked the oil and it's currently almost at the bottom of the fill line so not overfilled.

Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Actually the CDR closes at higher RPM.
That keeps the oil from being sucked into the intake when the engine is drawing a lot of air in.

Thanks Dave, I new I had a 50/50 chance of getting it right. So how much smoke/vapor should be coming out of the hose at idle?
