Cruise conrol switch part of neutral safety switch?
I have a 93 F-250 with the ZF5 speed behind my 7.3L IDI turbo diesel.
My cruise control does not work. The neutal saftey switch is bypassed on my truck. I have read that there is a switch associated with the cruise control that is mounted on the clutch pedal. Is this part of the neutral safety switch?
If so, is there a way to hook it back up but still leave the neutral safety switch bypassed? I want to keep the NSS bypassed due to the fact that my truck loves to eat slave cylinders, so sometimes you have to start the truck in gear to get it rolling.

if it's like my '90, the plug for the clutch safety disconnect doesn't have anything to do with the cruise control. there is a line that goes to the speed sensor unit on the transfer case that could be fouled with dirt, grease, oil, etc and not be making proper contact. also, the contacts in the on/of cruise set may need cleaning/replacing. this is a suggestion based on a '90, so don't know if that helps you much or not, but something to look at.

I had the same problem with my 91 F350. The previous owner had disabled the switch on the clutch rod. There are actually 2 switches built into one. One that prevents from starting until clutch is depressed. The other deactivates cruise when pedal is depressed. I just replaced the switch with a new one. Cruise works fine now. You should be able to disable one part of the switch, while still using the other.

The neutral safety switch is under the dash, or at least it is on the 86 model.
And the switch does have two different circuits, one on each side of the switch.
So one would be neutral safety switch, the other would be the cruise de-activate side.
