Hi All...just purchased a 1951 Mercury half tonne. Having a good time learning about them as 51-52 are my favorite years but never found one in good shape until now. Am looking forward to the knowledge from this list and am hoping to participate as I progress. Have done other resto's, but not of these.
What do they mean by the "bonus years?"
What size rims will fit for a 51 ? any old ford bolt pattern? just looking for a steel wheel...or an old set of ford wire wheels.
looking forward to hearing from you all..
cheers
Rick
The bolt pattern is 5x5.5 Bonus Built means that the trucks come with alittle more opsions on them. Bigger back glass I believe the seat had more padding in them. There will be some guys on here soon to help you out more. I just bought a 1951 F1 myself a few months ago and I'm still learning on it. The 51 Mercury is a rare truck from where I live. I have been to alot of car show and never seen one turn up. Can you post some pics of it for us.
Bonus Built refers to all of the '48-52 Ford trucks because Ford redesign the trucks with "Bonus" features. The new design is also referred to as the Million Dollar cab because Ford spent $1M redesigning the cab for a new truck after the war.
