You could always put that one in and if it works fine try the mod on your old one. Let us know the difference.

I modded mine wasnt too bad really, got the resistor from digikey. Took about an hour. Not much difference but the truck does run smoother and a little more responsive.

I agree about making it run smoother. I got a similiar effect from the HP X-over mod I did. Funny huh?

Yea I have the HPX crossover too but the IDM mod smoothed mine out more than the HPX did.

IDM mod makes more power with bigger injectors than it does with stock ones.

You gotta remember the guys at Beans and Swamps and everywhere else that does IDM's started the same way we do....they picked up a spare and went to town with a soldering iron.

if a mod makes you "feel a difference" on these trucks then its at least 15-20 horses, in my eyes thats worth a couple bucks for a junkyyard idm

It really aint bad to do although I will say it would have been nice to have a desoldering gun. That original resistor is one tough bugger to get out of there. Is made of ceramic, so a pair of needle nose pliers snaps it in half nicely then you can unsolder each half at a time bad thing is dont mess up after you do this cause you no longer have the original.
