I was wondering, I have 93 explorder with 4.0 v6 stick.. It needs a new motor I was wondering if you can supercharge it? Or is there anything I can do to get a some more horse power out of a new motor? I don't want to go with NO2. Any idea will help! Maybe a built crate motor?
Paxton and I think one other make superchargers for the 4.0. There are several different cams from Competition Cams you can chose from too. Any of these mods and you should get a SCT chip and get a custom tune when you're all done.
There's not much for the pre-OBD II motors, jet may make a chip and JBA makes headers, you can rig up an intake if you can't find the exact fit for your year. Also look at www.supersixmotorsports.com, they have all kinds of power upgrades, like cams, pistons and so on.
i had a 94 with that motor, i always wanted a supercharger for it, never got around to it in the 190k i put on it......that imo is the most durable engine ford ever made, i also had a 96 ranger with the same motor....120k before i got rid of it and still ran great, wanted to put a supercharger on that to, but never got around to it.....think those trucks were 160 hp i figured a supercharger might get it up to 225hp
