Im allmost positive that the snorkel is only for the 7.3 PSD. Its gotta make the turbo really sing though the top tho. Its gotta cool factor to it for sure. I think in Australia you can get that as a dealer option, alot of other off road items too.
Hey greythorn, is that a tub of Ford Vaseline on the bottom of your post??? You know they stopped using that due to budget constraints..... Now they just stick it to you nice and dry....
They are available for the diesel only. They also increase air flow, at least they do on a number of vehicles (so maybe not for diesels), it also tends to keep the air cleaner as most contaminants are kicked up not that far off the road surface.
I would buy one in a heart beat if they were available for my truck. I might actually buy two, in blue, and burn the both of them.
Looks gawdy and useless, but so useful in the right conditions. I see so many trucks with stuff that looks cool and useful but isn't. I can't count how many light bars with five off road lights on 'em I've seen with light covers. You mean to tell me when the guy goes offroad he climbs up there and pulls off all the light covers because he's going to go 100mph through the desert, bah, now that's funny. Might look cool, but that's useless. I've seen a bunch of winches on trucks too, that look cool, but the truck doesn't go offroad and they don't use the winch. Know how I know, because the winch is spooled perfectly and has never been unspooled/re-spooled since new. Now that's useless.
Snorkels aren't used much in the US, but they are used moreso, especially where that snorkel is made, Australia. It's a Safari Snorkel, imported in the US by ARB USA. It's the highest quality snorkel I've ever found, but around here, it's mostly useless.

I agre with you except for the very last part...sure people do just buy them for the looks, but a lot of people actually put them to work, its like your saying only australia has water deep enough to submerge the airfilter.
This product is awesome at what it does, just like winches and mud terrain tires and many other products, but a lot of people just buy that stuff for the looks, which makes them pointless.
This product is by no means pointless in the US, as long as you actually use it.

I also agree with 995.4SD; my cousin has a Suzuki Samurai with a snorkel on and the snorkel actually gets used I can't count how many times we've submerged it over the hood. It also has 37" tires, a lift, winch and all the other useful off-road stuff; so just cause one person thinks it's useless doesn't mean some one else actually does use it. But for your average person it's probably useless. I wish I had a winch I can't count how many times that would come in handy.
